As we know learning is a life long process , it has no limit, no age bar , no restriction , learning can be done in  various methods and strategy , this are called sometime dimensions of learning , here we will discuss the meaning of dimensions of learning , various dimensions of learning ,classification etc etc.










b. Meaning of dimension of  learning

 

The term dimension came from the Latin word  à dimensio

 which means measuring extent of area or topic  , here we will measuring the learning aspects of human.

extent,  magnitude, measureing   area

 

so the Meaning of dimension of learning   is a comprehensive  Framework model to help educators to improve student's learning through curriculum ,instruction and assessment.

Psychologist has classify dimension of learning in four type ----

---cognitive

---affective/emotional

---psychomotor

---social development

---cognitive :- The term cognitive refers to the mental processes involved in gaining knowledge and comprehension. These cognitive processes include thinking, knowing, remembering, judging, and problem-solving

 

---affective/emotional :- It involves our feelings, emotions, and attitudes.  values, appreciation, enthusiasms, motivations.

 

---psychomotor :- This  includes physical movement , coordination , and use of the motor-skill areas.

 

---social development :-  It is  gradual acquisition of certain skills (e.g., language, interpersonal skills) , attitudes , relationships, and behaviour that enable the individual to interact with others and to function as a member of society.

(i) Attitude and perception ---

       The attitude and perception of Peer group and  teacher also influences the learning ability of the students.

Example the bad environment and unsafe condition of the classroom will disturb the learning ability of a student.

 

(ii) Acquire and integrate new knowledge—

   Here the student will acquire some  new knowledge and then he/she wil try to integrate the old knowledge with new knowledge

 

(iii) Extend and refine knowledge—

  Once the new knowledge has been acquired and integrated, students need to expand these knowledge to next higher level or dimension.

 

 

(iv) Using knowledge meaningfully—

Learning will effective only when the student use the knowledge in real life situation in a meaningful way.

 

student needs to take meaningful decision, able to solve any problem , analyse the real life complex situation etc etc

 

 

 

(v) Habits of mind---

We know that practice makes a man perfect , for better practice we need to change our habits , Effective learning develops the powerful and productive habits of Mind which enables student to think critically think creatively and to regulate their behaviour

 

 






d. Conclusion

At last it can be concluded that learning is a never ending process ,dimensions of learning is a vast term and Has deep meaning educator must assess the students based on different dimensions of learning.
