A. Meaning of creativity :--

              In general Creativity  is a mental and social process involving the discovery of new ideas or concepts or  new associations of the creative mind between existing ideas or concepts .

 

 

        Guilford believed that creativity is the capacity to produce ideas that are both new and useful through divergent thinking.

 

Spearman believed that creativity is the power of human mind to create new contents by transforming relations and generating new correlates.

D. Elements of creativity and creativity tests by Guilford

Creativity tests are aimed at assessing the qualities and abilities that constitute creativity. These tests evaluate mental abilities in ways that are different from conventional intelligence tests.

 

 

Guilford believed that the ability to envision multiple solutions to a problem lay at the core of creativity.

He called this process divergent thinking and its opposite—the tendency to narrow all options to a single solution—convergent thinking.

 

 

 Guilford identified three components of divergent thinking: --

 ---fluency (the ability to quickly find multiple solutions to a problem);

--- flexibility (being able to simultaneously consider a variety of alternatives);

---originality (referring to ideas that differ from those of other people).

 

 

 

 






 

E. Nature and characteristics of creativity :-

 ---It is Universal in nature because it doesn't depends upon location , race ,   

     gender , culture , religion .

---It produces something new or Novel.

---It has wide scope nature .

---Creativity and intelligence are dependent on each other  .

---Creativity and intelligence increases according to age and maturity level .

---Creativity is a progressive in nature  , It means we can create new things from
