A. Meaning of problem solving with respect to education and general life
Problems solving is a planned attack on difficulty for finding
out satisfactory solution.
Problem solving is the process
of transforming the description of a problem into the solution of that problem
by using our knowledge of the problem and by relying on our ability to select
and use appropriate problem solving strategies , techniques and tools .
We all solve problems on a daily basis
, in academic situation , at work and in
our day to day life .
For example
Suppose we want to visit our grandfather house in abroad , here we will
first plan the route then we will
plan the expenditure for the tour , plan the time we invest etc etc
B. Objectives of problem solving
---The learner will analyse the
depth of the problem
---The learner will gather the
information related to the problem
---The learner will analyse the
theoretical knowledge and real life knowledge
---At last learner will develop the
habit of adaptation and problem solving skills
C. skills Required to solve a
problem effectively
Problem solving require all types of mental skills analytical and
creative skills .
Problem solving also requires
inductive and deductive skills ,
scientific approach
Analytical or logical thinking
includes skills such as ordering ,
comparing , contrasting evaluating ,
selecting etc etc .
It provides a logical Framework for
problem solving and helps to select the best possible solution in that
situation.
D. Stages to solve a problem
Step 1- Identifying and defining
the problem
Step 2 - Analysing the problem
step 3- Formulating tentative
hypothesis
step 4 -Testing the hypothesis
step 5 -Verifying of the result
Below are the full detail....
Step 1- Identifying and defining
the problem :
here we will first identify and define
the problem
Like what type of problem it is or What is our problem or where is our problem or which is our problem .
Step 2 - Analysing the problem
Here we analyse like whether it will take too much effort or less effort , whether it will take too much
time or less time , whether our problem is simple or complex .
step 3- Formulating tentative
hypothesis
Here we will construct some theory
and hypothesis and we will concept all the theory inside our mind before doing
the practical.
step 4 -Testing the hypothesis
Here we will do all the practicals related to the hypothesis and theory
formulated inside our mind.
step 5 -Verifying of the result
At last we will verify the result
and outcomes the theory and practical , whether we get our desired results or
we failed in our mission .
E. Precautions for problem solving
approach in teaching pedagogy.
---The problem should be clear and definite
---
The problem should be Meaningful and challenging for the students
--- The problem should be Interest
generating for the student
--- The problem should be Related
to real life situation
---The student should have some
previous knowledge of the problem which they are going to discuss
---The solution of the problem should be found
out by the learners themselves under the guidance of teacher
---Suitable age , physical and
mental capability of the student should be taken into account before putting
the problems.
